Prashant, there is no danger in meditating alone. You can do it anytime. By anytime I mean that the time could be midnight as well, provided your body is not exhausted and you are not sleepy. If you fulfil these conditions, then midnight is the best time to meditate. There is no disturbance, no noise, no phone ringing, no visitors dropping in, you dont have to go anywhere, and you have absolute solace for meditation. Regarding the dangers of becoming insane, I would say that insanity is not possible for a mind, which is calm. The more you meditate, the calmer you become. So, dont be alarmed. I dont know which spiritual text you have been reading. Well, there are many things which I would not endorse and yet they could be considered spiritual by many people.
